Interthane 3230G is a two-component, high-build, acrylic polyurethane finish designed for use on a variety of surfaces, including steel, aluminum, and concrete. It provides excellent durability, weather resistance, and gloss retention.
Specifically designed as part of the International 3200 product series for use as a single or two coat primer/finish coating system to protect construction and mining heavy machinery, agricultural equipment, railcars, transportation vehicles, material handling and lifting equipment, pumps, valves, gear units and other small motors and machinery. Interthane 3230G is particularly suited for use as a rapid drying system for fast handling times and maximising the production throughput. This contributes to lower energy consumption and stoving emissions at or below 40ºC compared to conventional alkyd enamel products which typically requires force drying above 40ºC. The main features of Interthane 3230G are:- - Good adhesion properties over correctly prepared steel, galvanised steel and stainless steel - Lead chromate free - Quick handling times and fast drying at high volume solids - Good gloss and colour retention - Versatile application thickness to allow single or two coat applications
Interthane 3230G is commonly used in industrial and marine applications, where a tough, long-lasting finish is required. It can be applied by spray, brush, or roller, and it dries to a hard, glossy finish that is resistant to abrasion, chemicals, and weathering.

Surface Preparation: The surface to be coated must be clean, dry, and free from all surface contamination. It is recommended to prepare the surface by abrasive blast cleaning to Sa2.5 or SSPC-SP10. The surface should be clean, dry, and free from any contaminants before applying Interthane 3230G.
Mixing: Stir well before use. Mix by volume 4 parts Interthane 3230G Part A with 1 part Interthane 3230G Part B. Allow the mixed material to stand for 10 minutes before application.
Application: Interthane 3230G can be applied by airless spray, air spray, brush, or roller. For spray application, the recommended tip size is 0.38-0.53 mm (0.015-0.021 inches) and a pressure of 210-275 bar (3000-4000 psi). The recommended dry film thickness is 75-150 microns (3-6 mils) per coat. The maximum recoating interval is 30 days.
Drying Times: The drying time of Interthane 3230G will depend on the temperature, humidity, and film thickness. At 23°C (73°F) and 50% relative humidity, the drying time for Interthane 3230G is:
Touch dry: 2 hours Hard dry: 6 hours Full cure: 7 days
Safety: Interthane 3230G contains isocyanates, which can cause sensitization and asthma. Avoid skin and eye contact and inhalation of vapors. Use with adequate ventilation and personal protective equipment. Refer to the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) for more information.
Limitations: Do not apply Interthane 3230G to surfaces below 5°C (41°F) or above 40°C (104°F). Do not apply Interthane 3230G when the relative humidity is above 85%. Do not apply over uncured epoxy coatings. Avoid pooling and overspray. Do not thin the material.
Storage: Interthane 3230G should be stored in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place, away from sources of heat and ignition. The shelf life of the material is 24 months from the date of manufacture when stored in unopened containers. As with any coating, proper surface preparation is critical to ensure good adhesion and performance. The surface should be clean, dry, and free of any contaminants before applying Interthane 3230G.
It is important to follow the manufacturer's instructions for mixing and application, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment. Interthane 3230G should only be applied in well-ventilated areas, and it is recommended to avoid skin contact or inhalation of vapors.
